This past Monday, on the Solemnity of St. Dominic, the founder of the Order of Preachers, the local Dominican friars, Our Lady of Victory Lay Dominican Chapter, and members of the parish community welcomed Mr. Robert Yenchek as a novice of the Lay Dominicans.
The Lay Dominicans (also called “Third Order Dominicans”) have existed for centuries as a way for the laity (men and women, single or married) to join more intimately in the mission of the Order of Preachers. They are in great company; St. Catherine of Siena was herself a lay Dominican, and was a powerful witness to the Gospel.
