One often sees athletes displaying their religious faith in one way or another, on and off the field. Is there a connection between sports and religion? Why are so many athletes religious? Why are sports so popular across societies and cultures? Can sports be a source of moral growth? Dominican friar and priest Fr. Peter Hannah will unpack the many striking similarities between what happens on the field, court, turf, and arena, and what goes on week after week in synagogues, mosques, temples, and churches. Both sports and religion appeal to deep instincts in human nature, instincts for victory, success, and triumph in the midst of struggle. Come hear Fr. Peter reflect on the relation of sports to religion and life.
