High School Youth Group: Growing in Faith Through Catholic Connections

Hello all! As you may or may not know, our youth group went through a bit of a change and expansion over the past few months. Our new Catholic Connection youth group is a partnership between St. Catherine’s and the Cathedral of the Madeleine, and is open to high schoolers from any parish. Since we began at the beginning of the school year, we have had a total of 20-30 teenagers from St. Catherine’s, the Cathedral, and a few other parishes attend every week! I have honestly been pretty blown away by these teens excitement and involvement in their faith, and the momentum that they’ve created in their small community in such a short period of time!

We’ve had a pretty busy past few months! As you may have noticed, the conference room on the 1st floor has been converted into our new youth lounge, and the teens were a great help in painting the room- if you haven’t seen their work yet, go check it out! We have also had weekly meetings, had talks and discussions about faith and life, hosted guest speakers from the Good Samaritan and the 4th Street Clinic, celebrated Halloween with a bowling party, and did service projects for Shriner’s Hospital and the Good Samaritan.

We also have many exciting events coming up over the next few months! In February, we are partnering with St. John the Baptist youth group in Draper to take a bus of teens to Los Angeles for the youth day at the LA Religious Education Congress. About 15 teens from our group will be going on this trip, and we are currently in the process of fundraising to make this trip possible for these teens! Please come support us on Sunday, December 4th for our Pancake Breakfast fundraiser at the Cathedral of the Madeleine! We will have two breakfast seatings, at 9:30 and at noon, so please come join us after mass to support our teens! The suggested donation is $5 per person, or $10 per family.
