St. Catherine’s is an amazing place because it means so many things for many people. For visiting scholars, it’s a place to continue practicing the Catholicism from their home countries. For college students and young adults, it’s a place to have meaningful experiences and relationships in the midst of a very secular contemporary culture. For longtime parishioners, it’s a place of fond memories and deep community connections. The one thing that unites all of us is the liturgy. Why else do we show up every Sunday and sometimes on weekdays? Why do we gather around the altar? What is it about the liturgy that keeps you coming back? Certainly it’s not just because it's a Catholic rule that you should attend mass every Sunday. There is something mysterious, something heavenly, that is given to us in the chapel. It is central to who we are in St. Catherine’s and everywhere else in the world.
From August 2018 - April 2019, your Parish Council, student ministry, and pastoral leadership will be offering everyone in St. Catherine’s the opportunity to connect more deeply to the liturgy, to better understand what it is that we do at the altar, and to help us forge a more irresistible relationship with God and the Church.
We will kick off this initiative with a lecture by Dr. Timothy O'Malley, the Director of the Notre Dame Center for Liturgy. Visit our
Liturgical Renewal page to learn about the many other opportunities for spiritual growth that will be offered as a part of this initiative.
