In honor of St. Thomas Aquinas, the greatest Dominican theologian whose feast day falls on January 28th, the Newman Center has hosted a lecture featuring philosophers, theologians, and Church leaders from around the country. The 2019 Lecture will be delivered on Sunday, February 10th, by the Most Rev. Oscar A. Solis, tenth bishop of Salt Lake City. This year Bishop Solis is celebrating 40 years of ordained ministry. His service to God's people over that time has taken him to five dioceses on two continents. At this year's Aquinas Lecture Bishop Oscar will talk about his experience of the Church, of her beauty as well as of the challenges she faces. Please join us for this unique event featuring the shepherd of our diocese reflecting on the last 40 years of global Catholic history through the story of his own ministry. We will begin with the celebration of the Eucharist at 10:45am with Bishop Solis as the celebrant and homilist. The lecture followed by Q&A will start at 12 noon. Afterward we invite everyone to a light reception. Read more in the article at Intermountain Catholic: http://icatholic.org/article/aquinas-lecture-to-feature-bishop-oscar-a-solis-58912140
