St. Catherine’s lies at the intersection of many pathways: faith and reason, students and families, old and young, university and city. We stand here at the crossroads. We welcome all who pass through while inviting them to stay and discover God’s love through the Church.

As a Cathedral, we remind the world that the Church is still alive and kicking.
Historically, cathedrals have stood at the centers of cities. Life revolved around the
rhythm of prayer and fellowship. Even if St. Catherine’s does not lie at the center of the University or city, we are still very visible. Our very presence serves as a reminder that the Faith is still alive and relevant. Through the beauty of liturgy and the warmth of community, we reawaken our common need for God. We are faithful to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church and seek to invite everyone into the Church that Christ founded. 

As a Think Tank, we ask questions and try to solve problems.
It seems like most people out there think that Catholics are blind sheep who never wrestle with their faith. Have a look in our library and you’ll see the opposite. We know that faith and reason are not opposed, and as a Newman Center living at the crossroads of a research university and a business-minded city, we are dedicated to using the intellectual tradition of the Church to build our community.

As a Coffee Shop, we invite people to really get to know others.
A coffee shop is a happy-accident waiting to happen. In Cate’s Café, an atheist can
discuss literature with a Catholic priest, and a struggling student can receive comfort from a total stranger. Both in and out of Cate’s, we meet people face to face over a half-way decent cup of coffee. You might even see God in another.
